These prices are insane…don’t get me wrong there is some labor involved but $700+ to pull the fairly easily accessible valve covers is crazy. Figure ~4hrs tops to do this if you’re taking your time. Its been a couple years and no issues since I got codes p0172 and p0175 shes been actually running great until last week, the pilot stalled while driving on a back road started it back up and ran fine but have CEL with codes p2099 and p2097 stored and p0175 and p2097 pending.(0.20mm to 024mm on an intake valve, and 0.28 to 0.32mm on an exhaust valve), and are "done" with adjusting that valve? (There are wonderful write-ups of the valve adjustment procedures here in the Piloteers website, but I couldn't find where the torque to final tighten to, was specified.)

My Honda dealer has suggested having the valves of my 2003 Pilot adjusted. The vehicle has 188,000 kilometers and the engine is presently running fine with no noticeable noises. The dealer estimated that to check and adjust the valves might be as much as $700-800 Canadian. I recently bought a 2016 Honda Fit with 113k+ miles from a dealer. The dealer was selling the car as is. I took the car for a pre-purchase inspection at a nearby auto repair shop. Replaced the air intake boot and the STFT were ranging around +/- 3% for 1,2. The car feels better at idle, but you can still feel the small misfires. I dont have a scanner that counts the misfires per cylinder. I pulled up the live data again and notice that the intake manifold pressure is low at 10inhg.

Run some cleaner through the motor to clean up the valves. Something like Seafoam, BG Engine flush, or even some ATF in the oil will clear out the oil passage.
